How It All Began

Imagine if you can, a time when coffee choice was limited to almost non-existent and the origins of beans were anyone’s guess. Hark back to 1987 when Brian Chapman founded Food Brands Group and this is no longer imagination at its worst. Spurred on by the lack of choice, variety and quality coffee available to the public, Brian Chapman launched Percol with the aim of introducing the best coffee from the richest soils and most productive climates.

In order to discover the best beans, Brian began his own coffee journey. It was during his travels through Central and South America that he also realised the importance of supporting the communities and small family run farms which produce our award-winning coffee. Brian soon inspired other coffee brands with his dedication to ethical trading and environmental sustainability.
